Hi all, I am trying to build libvirt 6.0 on ubuntu OS 18.04. why libvirtd can not list the running domain?

Hi, I'm on a Dell VEP 1405 running Debian 9.11 and I'm running a few tests with various interfaces given in PCI passthrough to a qemu/KVM Virtual Machine also running Debian 9.11. I noticed that only one of the four I350 network controllers can be used in PCI passthrough. I want to add my dvd and be able to burn dvd’s. I’ve tried every solution I could find, but nothing works. In my xml i have: <disk type='block' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source dev='/dev/sr0'/> <target dev='sdb' bus='sata'/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> In my guest (windows 10) it’s shown as "QEMU QEMU DVD-ROM” .. which of course means I can’t burn. domain: how long is new xml in saved file

Hi administrator, I am a cloud compute developer. I need some help from you about libvirt. I have a work to modify a image file which is saved by virDomainSave() or virDomainSaveFlags(). So virDomainSaveImageGetXMLDesc() and virDomainSaveImageDefineXML() are APIs I choosed to do. Because I found a sentence: A save file can be inspected or modified slightly with virDomainSaveImageGetXMLDesc() and virDomainSaveImageDefineXML(). But an error is happened when I do like that.  libvirt: QEMU Driver error: operation failed: new xml too large to fit in file. I found that if I increase strlen(xml_old) to strlen(xml_new). if (strlen(xml_new) - strlen(xml_old) <= 29) { this is right; } but if (strlen(xml_new) - strlen(xml_old) >= 50) { this is error; } But I don't choose to find an accurate number.  I think this value will be affected by some factors. Virsh migrate and paused vm

Hello I have a question regarding virsh migrate. I see this when I migrate a vm using the command --- virsh --connect=xen:///system migrate --live --verbose vm1 xen+ssh://node2/system --- I see the vm keeps running on node1 and on node2 its paused. Libvirt version is 5.1.0-8.11.6.x86_64 and hypervisor is Xen 4.12. No issues when running --- xl migrate vm1 node2 --- Any help is appreciated. Thanks P

php libvirt show active snapshot

My VMs don't get IP with libvirt and dnsmasq

Hello there, I wanted to share a problem I'm having with libvirt, for the case someone here could know how to solve it. I'm using an Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, I have libvirtd already installed and I think I got all the dependencies installed. Ovs error when starting vm: ovs-vsctl: 'del-port' command requires at least 1 arguments

Hi, my system got updated to libvirt 6.0.0 (from 5.6.0) this morning, and now I'm having problems starting VMs that make use of openvswitch portgroups. In keeping with our general aim to consolidate libvirt project infrastructure services on GitLab, we now wish to have issues for upstream libvirt projects reported on the appropriate https://gitlab.com/libvirt/ repository issue tracker. For further details see: https://libvirt.org/bugs.html Bugs against OS distro provided binary packages should continue to be filed against the OS distros' own bug trackers unless the problem is known to also affect current upstream libvirt versions. Note that as part of this change, the "Virtualization Tools" component on bugzilla.redhat.com has been updated to remove the ability to file new bugs against libvirt related components. Existing bugs there still exist in bugzilla, but new bugs can only be filed against gitlab.com. Over time we hope to triage old bugs and close those that are either invalid, or those not likely to be addressed given current maintainer resources available. HI, everyone: My target deal with network hotplug use virDomainDetachDeviceFlags. Because when the API return ,the network maybe doesn’t remove from my vm guest os. is there any way to use cloud-init configs in python libvirt? cloud-init require to create an iso, which seems that ovirt support cloud-config: https://red.ht/2K1gBkn But how can I do that by python libvirt? I know I can mount iso by python libvirt to the VM, but the process of creating iso file is the problem which if it is possible to enter the cloud-config commands by libvirt could be better to me. Hi, I am using python apis. I can't seem to find equivalent python function for virDomainGetGuestInfo() https://libvirt.org/html/libvirt-libvirt-domain.html#virDomainGetGuestInfo I have qemu-guest-agent running on the guest, and want to extract os information.

Hi All, I am trying to implement the following use case. User sfrag is logged on the host via ssh. Running 'virsh list --all' should trigger PolKit authentication and present ALL domains suffixed with -SF I have used and adapted the example from: libvirt.org Git - libvirt.git/blob - examples/polkit/libvirt-acl.rules | | | | | | | | | | | libvirt.org Git - libvirt.git/blob - examples/polkit/libvirt-acl.rules | | | Adapted the setup so that I included user sfrag. Always the user was asked to authenticate via root and not via SELF but ONLY if running "virsh -c qemu:///system list --all" Had to change /etc/libvirt/libvirtd.conf to include: auth_unix_ro = "polkit"access_drivers = [ "polkit" ]log_filters="1:access.accessdriverpolkit"log_outputs="1:file:/var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log" All polkit rules for user sfrag was removed at this point. Now the user sfrag running 'virsh list --all' gives no output to /var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log or /var/log/secure. Running the same as user root gives interesting results in the logs: org.libvirt.api.connect.getattrorg.libvirt.api.connect.search-domainsorg.libvirt.api.domain.getattr (fore every defined domain)org.libvirt.api.domain.read (again for every defined domain). Virsh is using qemu:///session as the default URI. Why running virsh as non-root is not triggering polkit or any API calls (based on log files output) and running the same as root, gives all the interesting output? Is there a way to get the current cache allocation status of a host from libvirt, via API or virsh? I've seen some references to a 'virsh nodecachestats' command in some patches from 2017 that doesn't seem to exist, and I see that 'virsh domstats --cpu-total <domain>' has similar information but seems to be focused on cache monitoring information rather than the allocation status. libvirt remote uri format

Hi, I am using python libvirt api to get domain information. When using a uri without specifying the socket path, an error occurs. uri = "qemu+ssh://myuser@some.kvm.host/system" conn = libvirt.open(uri) This results in the following: libvirt: XML-RPC error : internal error: received hangup event on socket If I append the socket path to the URI, it works. e.g. qemu+ssh://myuser@some.kvm.host/system?socket=/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock Is this the recommended way to construct an ssh uri? My concern is that the socket path may be different when connecting to different libvirt hosts. remote host is ubuntu 20.04 running libvirtd (libvirt) 6.0.0 under systemd - Joe
