Hi! Could you, please, point me to where I can read about possible values for domain/devices tag in case of OpenVZ? I couldn't find such info at [1] whereas e.g. filesystem is mentioned at [2] but not at [1]. Thanks! Nikolay. [libvirt-users] Python API and events, how to deal with libvirtd stop/start

Hi list, I'm using the Python API to check for libvirt events. Works well, but when libvirtd is restarted, or stopped completely, the events are no longer seen. I guess this is logical, but how would I deal with this situation ? I can re-open the connection to libvirt and re-register the callbacks, but this does not work. If I call virEventLoopPureRegister() again, the app crashes with a glibc error. Any ideas ? You can reproduce this by using the event-test.py supplied with libvirt. Fire it up, restart libvirtd and see what happens when you start or stop a domain for example. Many thanks for any pointers. - Jasper

[libvirt-users] guest creation problem on pv dom0 kernel

I am having problem in guest creation for a pv-ops Dom0 kernel I compiled every thing from scratch.(Xen and 2.6.32.27 pv-ops dom0 kernel) on a Ubuntu Desktop 10.04 64 bit. I could be wrong, but this doesn't appear to be a kernel problem. Especially if xm info is working, so the xen service has started already. Maybe my libvirt version doesn't know how to use the xen 4.0 utils or the pvops kernel? I tried creating a guest by virt-manager also which when installed via apt-get install ubuntu-virt-server ubuntu-virt-mgmt installs following http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/<http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/libvirt-bin> ubuntu-virt-server http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/<http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/libvirt-bin> ubuntu-virt-mgmt Now when I open virt-manager the option to create guest by installing from a ISO present on hard disk locally or even PXE are greyed out.virt-manager version is 0.8.2 virsh version Compiled against library: libvir 0.7.5 Using library: libvir 0.7.5 Using API: QEMU 0.7.5 Running hypervisor: QEMU 0.12.3 This above output is wrong as instead of QEMU it should show Xen. I installed it via apt-get install libvirt-bin when you do an apt-get install libvirt-bin python-libvirt then it installs following http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/libvirt-bin http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/python-libvirt It appears it is a problem with libvirt-bin and it does not know how to create a pv-ops Dom0 guest. The machine where I am trying all this is a non VT 64 bit machine and trying to create 32 bit guests on it. Hi, Can virsh be used to connect to a standalone KVM? I.e. I started a KVM from the command line, and I wondered how to connect to it. Virsh list shows no VMs. Thanks. Patrick

[libvirt-users] wrong domain type for openvz

Hi! In [1] it's written that "Then a generic configuration file /etc/vz/vznetctl.conf must be created containing [...]" whereas it has to be /etc/vz/vznet.conf since /usr/sbin/vznetcfg script has the following line VZNETCFG='/etc/vz/vznet.conf' vzctl version is 3.0.26-1. Hi folks, I'm trying to connect to a vSphere cluster using the information from the libvirt documentation. ------------------- $ virsh -c "vpx://root@10.51.4.11/dc1/dc1-cluster-e01/dc1-vsphere-e04/?no_verify=1" Enter root's password for 10.51.4.11: error: internal error HTTP response code 400 for call to 'Login' error: failed to connect to the hypervisor ------------------- I seem to be able to establish a connection, but it fails with a "HTTP code 400". If I provide the incorrect password it fails with a 'login credentials' error, so it looks like I am getting a connection, but it's failing for another reason. Wireshark is no help as it's all done over SSL/TLS. Any thoughts folks? I've tried various versions of libvirt up to the newest. Hello libvirt-users, could anybody tell me, whether we could use dlls provided in the experimental package for windows, and distribute it with our application. We would do the following: a) Install the executable from http://libvirt.org/sources/win32_experimental/Libvirt-0.8.7-2.exe on our production machine. b) Add the dlls to the setup of our application c) Install the dlls on the customer's system in some location named /<product root>/lib. Questions: - do we violate the LGPL by doing so? - does anybody have better suggestions on how to provide the functionality to the customer? - who could tell me how to contact the copyright owners, in order to directly discuss this issue with them. 1. I am using libvirt 0.8.3 on fedora14 . Acoording to http://berrange.com/posts/2009/12/03/using-cgroups-with-libvirt-and-lxckvm-… inorder to have libvirt memory cgroup under a pre specified group one should add CGROUP_DAEMON="memory:/virt" to /etc/sysconfig/libvirtd and restart cgconfig service and the libvirtd service . That did not help . any idea ? 2. Also : specifying a limit to the memory subsystem (/dev/cgroup/memory/libvirt/qemu/memory.limit_in_bytes) by echoing a value , does not propagate to a VM generated later under qemu which is actually generated with a huge default value for memory.limit_in_bytes . Suppose there was such a limit . Should it decline a generation of a VM that requests a higher memory size in its XML file or the limit prevents the VM from consuming more that the specified cgroup limit when consuming a higher value thanks Zvi Dubitzky Email:dubi@il.ibm.com
