[libvirt-users] bridge / ubuntu / no arp reply
by François Chenais 15 Oct '26

15 Oct '26

Hello I'm trying to setup a bridged guest on an ubuntu 13.10 but it doesn't work. (Everything is ok with NAT) Network sniffing shows that arp replies don't come back to the guest. Test 1 ------ Guest : ping host_bridge_ip (ok) Test 2 ------ Guest: ping other_lan_host (KO) other_lan_host - receives arp who-is request - sends arp reply - arp -a shows the guest macaddr => Guest doesn't receive reply Test 3 ------ other_lan_host ping the Guest (KO) - arp -a shows "incomplete" addr - Guest receives nothing On Host ------- network tcpdump on bridge or vnet interfaces shows request but no reply ... Thanks in advance for help or ideas François

[libvirt-users] virRandomBits - not very random
by Brian Rak 01 Jun '18

01 Jun '18

I just ran into an issue where I had about 30 guests get duplicate mac addresses assigned. These were scattered across 30 different machines. Some debugging revealed that: 1) All the host machines were restarted within a couple seconds of each other 2) All the host machines had fairly similar libvirtd pids (within ~100 PIDs of each other) 3) Libvirt seeds the RNG using 'time(NULL) ^ getpid()' This perfectly explains why I saw so many duplicate mac addresses. Why is the RNG seed such a predictable value? Surely there has to be a better source of a random seed then the timestamp and the pid? The PID seems to me to be a very bad source of any randomness. I just ran a test across 60 of our hosts. 43 of them shared their PID with at least one other machine.

[libvirt-users] Freeze Windows Guests For Consistent Storage Snapshots
by Payes Anand 09 Jun '15

09 Jun '15

Hi, Is it possible to freeze windows guests for a consistent storage level snapshot. I am using openstack icehouse on centos 6.6 Hypervisor: KVM Libvirt: 0.10.2 Qemu: 0.10.2 Guest OS: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 I was able to freeze Centos guests by issuing the command: virsh qemu-agent-command <guest_ID> '{"execute":"guest-fsfreeze-freeze"}' For CentOS guests, I enabled access between compute nodes and guests through a socket by setting metadata parameter, hw_qemu_guest_agent=yes for the guest image. And then installing qemu-guest-agent inside the guest. What steps do i have to follow for windows ? Regars, Payes

[libvirt-users] QEMU interface type=ethernet
by Brian Rak 21 Apr '15

21 Apr '15

With Libvirt under modern kernels, you can't use <interface type='ethernet'> unless QEMU is running as root. Running qemu as root is not ideal, but I was able to track down the issue to this linux change: http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=c… Which means that if you're seeing errors like this: 2015-03-02T18:00:51.243477Z qemu-kvm: -netdev tap,script=/tmp/vnet380622.sh,id=hostnet1: could not open /dev/net/tun: Operation not permitted 2015-03-02T18:00:51.243518Z qemu-kvm: -netdev tap,script=/tmp/vnet380622.sh,id=hostnet1: Device 'tap' could not be initialized They can be resolved like this: 1) Edit /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf, and add "/dev/net/tun" to the cgroup_device_acl option 2) Run: setcap cap_net_admin+eip /bin/qemu-system-x86_64 This will give QEMU CAP_NET_ADMIN when it runs. Make sure you review `man capabilities` to see what capabilities this actually gets qemu. The downside here is that in the event a guest somehow breaks out of qemu, CAP_NET_ADMIN gives them a bunch of scary permissions that could result in you having a seriously bad day (it's enough permissions to MITM all the machine's traffic, which could easily result in compromise) It looks to me like libvirt already has the ability to create tap devices and pass them into qemu (src/util/virnetdevtap.c - virNetDevTapCreateInBridgePort), however you need to actually be using a bridged network to do this. There is no way to have libvirt just create a tap device and leave the rest to user defined scripts. I don't think I have the necessary knowledge to add that feature in a generic way, but it seems like it would be pretty handy. I'll probably just work around it by removing the virNetDevBridgeAddPort call from our version of libvirt.

[libvirt-users] How to burn a CD using libvirt?
by Steve Ross 14 Apr '15

14 Apr '15

Hi, My first e-mail... my apologies if this is not the appropriate e-mail list. My goal is to *write* from the guest OS to a CD or DVD reader/writer on my host system. Currently, the write operation is failing. I believe it is because the virtual CD-ROM device is set to be "readonly". Is it possible to write to a QEMU CDROM device and, if so, how? (The host machine's CD-ROM drive does support writing/burning.) I'm using the "virt-manager" GUI to start the virtual machine. Once started, the "qemu" command line from my virtual machine process includes the following, where the host's built-in CD reader/writer is "/dev/sr0". /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 ... -drive file=/dev/sr0,if=none,id=drive-ide0-0-1,readonly=on,format=raw This obviously says that the device is "readonly". A snippet of XML from my virtual machine from the CDROM is: <domain type='kvm'> ... <devices> <disk type='block' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source dev='/dev/sr0'/> <target dev='hdb' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='1'/> </disk> I've tried removing the <readonly/> tag from the above VM definition, and then running the VM, but the tag magically reappears in the VM definition when it runs. Also, the "virt-manager" GUI shows the CDROM device as having the option of "Readonly" being checked (and the GUI does not allow me to uncheck it.) Other details: * qemu version 2.1.3 on Fedora 21. * libvirt version 1.2.0.2 Thanks for any help or pointers you can provide, -- Steve

[libvirt-users] XML vm configfile with Display using QEMU GTK interface
by Vinícius Ferrão 09 Apr '15

09 Apr '15

Hello guys, I'm trying to start a VM using the QEMU GTK Display Interface instead of a SDL window. But I'm failing. My actual setting is using SDL with this XML line: <graphics type='sdl' display=':0.0' xauth='/home/ploog/.Xauthority'/> I changed to: <graphics type='gtk'> But it fails to start the VM. Any ideias? Thanks in advance,

[libvirt-users] couple of ceph/rbd questions
by Brian Kroth 01 Apr '15

01 Apr '15

Hi, I've recently been working on setting up a set of libvirt compute nodes that will be using a ceph rbd pool for storing vm disk image files. I've got a couple of issues I've run into. First, per the standard ceph documentation examples [1], the way to add a disk is to create a block in the VM definition XML that looks something like this: <disk type='network' device='disk'> <source protocol='rbd' name='libvirt-pool/new-libvirt-image'> <host name='{monitor-host-1}' port='6789'/> <host name='{monitor-host-2}' port='6789'/> <host name='{monitor-host-3}' port='6789'/> </source> <target dev='vda' bus='virtio'/> <auth username='libvirt'> <secret type='ceph' uuid='9ec59067-fdbc-a6c0-03ff-df165c0587b8'/> </auth> </disk> The trouble with this approach is that those ceph cluster details (secret uuid and monitor host lists), need to be stored separately in every single VM disk definition separately. That makes for a lot of maintenance when those details need to change (eg: replace a monitor host (common), or change the auth details (less common)). I'd prefer to be able to define a libvirt storage pool that contains those details, and then reference the disks within each VM as volumes, so that I only need to change the ceph monitor/auth details once per libvirt compute host, rather than for every single VM disk definition. I've rebuilt my libvirt packages using --with-rbd-support so that I can successfully define a libvirt storage pool as follows: <pool type='rbd'> <name>libvirt-rbd-pool</name> <source> <name>libvirt-pool</name> <host name='{monitor-host-1}' port='6789'/> <host name='{monitor-host-2}' port='6789'/> <host name='{monitor-host-3}' port='6789'/> <auth username='libvirt' type='ceph'> <secret uuid='9ec59067-fdbc-a6c0-03ff-df165c0587b8'/> </auth> </source> </pool> However, when I go to start a VM with a volume created in that pool as follows, I get an error: <disk type='volume' device='disk'> <source pool='libvirt-rbd-pool' volume='{rbd-volume-name}'/> <driver name='qemu' type='raw' cache='writethrough'/> <target dev='vda' bus='virtio'/> </disk> "using 'rbd' pools for backing 'volume' disks isn't yet supported" When I dug through the code, it appears that there's an explicit check for RBD type storage pools (VIR_STORAGE_POOL_RBD) that disables that (libvirt-1.2.13/src/storage/storage_driver.c:3159). Is there a particular reason for that? Has it just not been implemented yet, or am I specifying the disk definition in the wrong way? Second, using the former disk definition method, I'm able to run VMs under qemu, *and* migrate them. Very slick. Nice work all. However, I found that since by default virt-manager leaves the VM defined on both the source and destination, I'm actually able to start the VM in both places. I didn't see an option to disable that, so I just wrote a simple wrapper script to do the right thing via virsh using --undefinesource, but I can't guarantee that some other admin might not skip that and just use the GUI. It appears that libvirt (or is it qemu?) doesn't set rbd locks on the disk image files by default. After running across [2], I had originally thought about writing some hooks to set and release locks on the VMs using the rbd cli, but after reading the docs on the migration process [3], I think that's probably not possible since the VM is started in both places temporarily. I think my other option is to setup some shared fs (maybe cephfs) and point virtlockd at it so that all of the libvirt compute hosts register locks on VMs properly. However, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows if there's some magic other parameter or setting I can use to have libvirt/qemu just use rbd locks natively. Or, is that not implemented either? Thanks for your help. Cheers, Brian [1] <http://ceph.com/docs/master/rbd/libvirt/#configuring-the-vm> [2] <https://www.redhat.com/archives/libvirt-users/2014-January/msg00058.html> [3] <https://libvirt.org/hooks.html#qemu_migration>

[libvirt-users] Networking issues in host
by G. Richard Bellamy 30 Mar '15

I've been having intermittent network issues on my Host - they go away when I stop and disable libvirtd and then reboot. They do not go away if I just stop libvirtd and don't reboot. I'm at a loss as to where to start with my troubleshooting, and being a relative n00b to libvirt, I'd love any pointers. Regards, Richard

Hi, After successful libvirt compilation on Cygwin, I am trying to run virt-manage which requests LibvirtGLib: $ virt-manager Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virt-manager", line 30, in <module> from gi.repository import LibvirtGLib ImportError: cannot import name LibvirtGLib I understand that I need to compile libvirt-glib. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBVIRT_CFLAGS and LIBVIRT_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. The only "libraries" I have been able to find are: $ cp /usr/local/bin/cygvirt- cygvirt-0.dll cygvirt-lxc-0.dll cygvirt-qemu-0.dll Copying it to /usr/lib doesn't change anything. Renaming these files from cygvirt* to libvirt* either. Any idea? Cordialement,Rudy YAYON

[libvirt-users] Channel Device virConnectListAllNodeDevices
by Neel Basu 27 Mar '15

27 Mar '15

Hello, I've added a Channel Device through virt-manager GUI. virsh dumpxml shows the device as. <channel type='unix'> <source mode='bind' path='/var/lib/libvirt/qemu/channel/target/ubuntusaucy.marx'/> <target type='virtio' name='marx'/> <alias name='channel2'/> <address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='3'/> </channel> I am expecting virConnectListAllNodeDevices to have the device in its output. But I don't see it there. Is it the right function to call ? virNodeDevicePtr* devices; int dev_count = virConnectListAllNodeDevices(conn, &devices, 0); std::cout << "Devices: " << dev_count << std::endl; for(virNodeDevicePtr* device = devices; device < devices+dev_count; ++device){ std::cout << virNodeDeviceGetName(*device) << std::endl; } returns 66 devices but once I loop through devices I don't get any corresponding name for the channel device. Tried using virConnectListAllNodeDevices(conn, &devices, VIR_CONNECT_LIST_NODE_DEVICES_CAP_VPORTS); returns 0 devices. Thanks.

[libvirt-users] Installation of libvirt on Ubuntu
by WANG Cheng D 27 Mar '15

27 Mar '15

Dear all, I wonder if libvirt can work on Ubuntu. As you know, it is very convenient to install libvirt on Fedora. I can download the libvirt packet from libvirt.org and install it using command ./configure, make and make install. As I am going to install an open source simulation system named openairinterface, Ubuntu is the recommended OS, and I want to install the simulation system in libvirt lxc. (as you may know, there is another lxc user space tool on Ubuntu whose official website is "https://linuxcontainers.org", which I don't want to use). My questions are: 1) Can I install libvirt on Ubuntu with the same installation steps as on Fedora (i.e., manually download the tar.gz packet and install it locally)? I found a link talking about installation libvirt on Ubuntu which installs something like "libvirt-bin" (https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/libvirt.html) I am not sure if libvirt can be installed following this instruction? 2) How can I create the rootfs for a Ubuntu container if libvirt can be installed on Ubuntu? I create the rootfs for Fedora container using: # yum --installroot=/root/fedora16linux container --releasever=19 install -y openssh, bridge-utils". How can I achieve this on Ubuntu? 3) If libvirt can work on Ubuntu, Can a disk file on the host OS be exposed to a Ubuntu container just like on Fedora? With my warmest regards, Cheng Wang

I needed one more option to make it work: # mount -t 9p /mnt/SASInstaller /mnt/SASInstaller/ mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /mnt/SASInstaller, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so # mount -t 9p -o trans=virtio /mnt/SASInstaller /mnt/SASInstaller The page you referenced also mentions using -oversion=9p2000.L. There is some additional info on the versions at http://landley.net/kdocs/Documentation/filesystems/9p.txt; that page says .L is the default, while http://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/9psetup#Starting_the_Guest_using_libvirt says it's .U. I don't know how to tell which I ended up with. Thanks for the pointer. What am I missing? Do I need to run something in the VM (running Linux) to make it work? You need to mount it: mount -t 9p /mnt/SASInstaller /mnt/SASInstaller The target 'dir' is not really a directory, it's just a mount tag. [libvirt-users] machine='pc-q35-2.1' and sata controller
by Thomas Stein 25 Mar '15

25 Mar '15

Hello. I'm not able to disable the sata controller on a machine='pc-q35-2.1' type VM. Whenever i delete: <controller type='sata' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x1f' function='0x2'/> </controller> it gets added again when i close the editor. The reason i would like to delete the sata controller is this error while trying to migrate the machine: 2015-02-23 19:04:11.181+0000: 1972: error : qemuMonitorJSONCheckError:381 : internal error: unable to execute QEMU command 'migrate': State blocked by non-migratable device '0000:00:1f.2/ich9_ahci' Someone has an idea to solve this? thanks and cheers t.

[libvirt-users] Listing on Host sFlow under Applications>Monitoring
by Peter Phaal 25 Mar '15

25 Mar '15

Would it be possible to list the Host sFlow project in the Monitoring section of http://libvirt.org/apps.html? Host sFlow <http://host-sflow.sourceforge.net/> Host sFlow is a light weight agent running on KVM hypervisors that links to libvirt library and exports standardized cpu, memory, network and disk metrics for all virtual machines using sFlow protocol. Thanks, Peter

[libvirt-users] virsh dom state
by Fiorenza Meini 24 Mar '15

Hi there, I'm running KVM under Openstack . When I give virsh list command, I see some VM in NON persistent state. What does it mean? How can I move it to a persisten state ? I found that I cannot make a snapshot, from Openstack , of a machine which is in a NON PERSISTENT state. Regards Fiorenza -- Spazio Web S.r.l. V. [libvirt-users] java binding in central maven repository
by Laszlo Hornyak 23 Mar '15

23 Mar '15

Hi, The last libvirt artifact published to the maven central repository was 0.4.7 in 2011. The libvirt.org/maven2 repository is updated, but - sometimes the libvirt.org webserver is not responding and that breaks the build. - for similar reasons projects depending on other maven repositories can not upload to central repository Can we get back updates to maven central repo? Best regards, Laszlo -- EOF

Re: [libvirt-users] getting oriented/networking [some success]
by Boylan, Ross 23 Mar '15

I seem to have run into https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855640, because when I tried the fix/work-around at the end (comment 11), ethtool -K eth0 gro off, my download speed by speedtest went from undetectable to ~150Mb/s. However, it was not able to connect for the upload test, and so something may still be off. Non-virtual machines can do the upload test, so it's not just a firewall issue. The comment refers to another source for more info, but it seems to be behind a Redhat paywall. Ross ________________________________________ From: Boylan, Ross Sent: Friday, March 20, 2015 11:01 AM To: Dominique Ramaekers; libvirt-users(a)redhat.com Subject: RE: [libvirt-users] getting oriented/networking Thanks very much. Unfortunately, networking is currently so slow as to be non-functional (most operations time out). It's also erratic: I had 2 VM that were close to identical--they were both based on the same disk image--and even when I set the networking the same one was fine and one was very slow. Today I started up the VM that had good networking, and it now has bad networking. Here's one of the network specifications: <interface type='direct'> <mac address='52:54:00:61:7c:dc'/> <source dev='eth1' mode='vepa'/> <model type='virtio'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x03' function='0x0'/> </interface> The one that was originally fast also had a NAT network, and the one that was originally slow was mode bridge before I changed it to vepa, which didn't help. The drivers came from http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/virtio-win/latest/images/virtio-win-0.… in the 32 bit windows 7 directory of the iso (host is 64 bit, as is the emulated machine; Windows 7 is 32 bit). I've tried shutting down, removing and reinstalling the network adaptor, and various other things. The libvirt-gui doesn't include these options. You'll have to edit the XML in virsh. This was my conclusion on 15-03-2015 but I added the hugepages tip in this list today. As for networking, I only use or bridged or the default virtual network (NAT), so can't help you more here. Here below, a summary of tips: - Setting video to QXL and the display channel to Spice <video> <model type='qxl' ram='65536' vram='65536' heads='1'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/> </video> <channel type='spicevmc'> <target type='virtio' name='com.redhat.spice.0'/> <address type='virtio-serial' controller='0' bus='0' port='1'/> </channel> - Using HyperV enlightenemt timer <features> <hyperv> <relaxed state='on'/> <vapic state='on'/> <spinlocks state='on' retries='8191'/> </hyperv> <features/> <clock ...> <timer name='hypervclock' present='yes'/> </clock> - Delete the tablet entry in the input section or set the USB-bus to USB2 or USB3 - Use hugepages <memoryBacking> <hugepages/> </memoryBacking> Again thanks Daniel and Andrey. Hope this helps. Grts, Dominique. -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: Boylan, Ross [mailto:Ross.Boylan@ucsf.edu] Verzonden: vrijdag 20 maart 2015 1:52 Aan: libvirt-users(a)redhat.com Onderwerp: [libvirt-users] getting oriented/networking I've been using virt-manager and kvm with a disk image (as in the raw bits) from a physical windows 7 machine. Initial performance was dreadful, but improved as I switched to virtio and spice. I've been running linux VM's somewhat longer (much longer if you count kvm without libvirt). There are lots of choices exposed by virt-manager. How do I find out what the choices mean, and which are good ones? This was true for the video (resolved by following instructions for spice, though I still wonder what the other settings are for), disks and the network. In particular, I have a choice of lots of interfaces for my network; I picked eth1:macvtap because I wanted to bridge eth1. But there is a "Source Mode" which I left at VEPA, even though Bridged was another choice. But the bridge would already seem implicit in picking a source device of eth1:macvtap. I don't know what "source mode" means. The choices in the GUI seem like some of the options listed under forward on http://libvirt.org/formatnetwork.html; is that a good place to look for clarification. I started a 2nd VM that also used eth1:macvtap (with virtio) and it had almost no network throughput. So maybe I should use some other method? I notice the network manager connection gui allows creation of bridges on the network; should I be using that? I have been reading documentation, but I haven't found either a task-oriented discussion ("to get a windows machine working well, use these options" or "follow these steps") or an easy way to go from the choices in the GUI to a discussion of their meaning. Thanks for any help you can offer. [libvirt-users] still possible to use traditional bridge network setup ?
by Lentes, Bernd 23 Mar '15

23 Mar '15

Hi, i'm currently installing a SLES 12 64bit system. libvirt-client-1.2.5-13.3.x86_64 and libvirt-daemon-1.2.5-13.3.x86_64. Formerly I created my vm's (KVM) using a traditional bridge in my host systems, mostly SLES 11 SP3. But with SLES 12 I don't succeed. I can use the macvtap device in the host, but I like to be able to communicate between host and guest. Is the traditional bridge setup not any longer available ? [libvirt-users] KVM live migration i/o error
by Francesc Guasch 23 Mar '15

23 Mar '15

Hi. I have three Ubuntu Server 14.04 trusty with KVM. Two of them are HP servers and one is Dell. Both brands run fine the KVM virtual servers, and I can do live migration between the HPs. But I get I/O errors in the vda when I migrate to or from the Dell server. I have shared storage with NFS, mounted the same way in all of them: nfs.sever:/kvm /var/lib/libvirt/images nfs auto,vers=3 I checked the version of all the packages to make sure are the same. I got: kernel: 3.13.0-43-generic #72-Ubuntu SMP x86_64 libvirt: libvirt: 1.2.2-0ubuntu13.1.9 qemu-utils: 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.10 qemu-kvm: 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.10 I made sure the Cache in the Storage is set to None. Disk bus: virtio Cache mode: none IO mode: default I run this to do live migration: virsh migrate --live virtual qemu+ssh://dellserver/system I open two consoles with virt-manager, one in the origin host and another one in the destination. As soon as it starts in the origin console I spot I/O error messages, when it finishes I got them in the console in the destination server. The file system is read only and I have to shut it down hard. end request I/O error, /dev/vda, sector 8790327 When I migrate to the other HP server the process runs fine. I don't know what else to check, I wonder if such different hardware could be a problem. These are the CPU flags in the HP server: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx rdtscp lm c onstant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts rep_good nopl xtopology nonstop_tsc aperfmperf pni dtes64 monitor ds_cpl vmx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr pdcm dca sse4_1 sse4_2 po pcnt lahf_lm dtherm tpr_shadow vnmi flexpriority ept vpid And those in the Dell server: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx lm constant _tsc pebs bts nopl pni dtes64 monitor ds_cpl vmx est cid cx16 xtpr pdcm lahf_lm tpr_shadow I tried to check the log files in /var/log/libvirt but I can't see any different message when I migrate from HP to HP than when I do from HP to Dell. I think I found something checking SELinux. ls -Z and getfattr return nothing. But ps -eZ showed something very different in the Dell server. This is in the HP server: /usr/sbin/libvirtd 1034 ? 11:51:44 libvirtd libvirt-09540b5d-82 701 ? 05:28:40 qemu-system-x86 unconfined 1 ? 00:01:00 init In the Dell server init is confined in lxc and there are also lxc-start processes. /usr/sbin/libvirtd 1622 ? 05:07:07 libvirtd libvirt-8a0f9087-32d... 29926 ? 00:00:01 qemu-system-x86 lxc-container-default 1774 ? 00:00:00 init /usr/bin/lxc-start 1763 ? 00:00:00 lxc-start There is also LXC installed in that server ! Maybe that is messing with kvm. The qemu processes look fine to me but there is a chance the problem comes from there. I could move the LXC somewhere else or I can keep it there to try to fix this issue. What do you advice I should do now ?

[libvirt-users] kvm/vmware side-by-side?
by Boylan, Ross 20 Mar '15

20 Mar '15

http://libvirt.org/drvvmware.html says "The libvirt VMware driver should be able to manage any Workstation, Player, Fusion version supported by the VMware VIX API." 1. Does this mean it supports the vmware hypervisor, or just that it understands the disk images and perhaps other cotnrol file info? 2. If it supports the hypervisor, does this mean that kvm and vmware hypervisors can be running on the same host? I've read statements elsewhere that they are incompatible. I'd probably be running VMWare Workstation 11, though I could get Player or vCenter Server if it mattered. Thanks. Ross Boylan
