They are a generic data transport, using the libvirt authentication and RPC mechanism. At present it is only used internally to do tunnelled migration, though there are also plans to use it for "virsh console" so you can see the console on remote hosts. There may be other uses for it, but it's not directly used for managing guests at this time. -- Chris Lalancette
