[libvirt-users] Should Windows NT guest use all of a CPU?

I've "ported" an old VMware VM containing Windows NT 4 SP6 into libvirt/kvm/qemu and got it running (more or less). However, the CPU graph next to the VM in virt-manager shows it starts using 100% of the allocated CPU as soon as it reaches the "OS Loader" screen, and stays there even after Windows has booted and I've logged in. (There's a dip now and then, apparently when something other than idling happens!) Windows NT Task Manager shows the CPU usage at 0%. I've tried with and without ACPI, and with different CPU settings (none/default, qemu32, pentium). No difference. [libvirt-users] possible to disable but not remove hardware?

I have a situation where I frequently need to "add" and "remove" a NIC, but each time I "add" it, I need the same MAC address. I'm using virt-manager mostly, but would be willing to use "virsh" if necessary, although it doesn't seem to hotplug the same way (something else to figure out another day ;-). It doesn't appear in the domain XML format that there is any "disabled" attribute than can be used. Is that true? Is there a different usage pattern to accomplish this? [libvirt-users] Libvirt-LXC bug/error

Hi all, I am trying to run LXC containers with the libvirt utils. I encountered many difficulties but solved all of them, except a last one... This is why I need your help. [libvirt-users] web frontend for managing libvirt servers

Hi all, I know that redhat has some web based GUI for managing libvirt clusters, however, I am not having purchased redhat :-) Is there any good open-source web frontend you can recommend for managing your libvirt instances? Ideally with VNC/spice support for connecting to the remote? I know of proxmox, which we used so far for our openvz containers, but I am about to migrate to KVM (and possibly linux-vserver / LXC). Hallo Christian, have look on ovirt (redhat). ovirt-node.x86_64 : The RHEV Hypervisor daemons/scripts ovirt-node-tools.noarch : RHEV Hypervisor tools for building and running an RHEV Hypervisor image Dunno if you can compare it too vmware vcenter, but ovirt is what i think you need to manage vm's and hosts. clustering motion etc Its in the Repos for Centos. Libvirt was unable to find any qemu. Yeah, i bet it will work with them :) Ok Ok, Tada!!!! after recompiling with the recommended useflags and "restarting" of libvirt = Tada! It works! Is the logfile informativ for you? Marko Btw, on my Centos6 Boxes all is running like a charme. Well, Centos/RHEL have strict dependencies for packages and therefore force user to install many packages which user doesn't need in the end. That's why we are using Gentoo, right? :) Yes, right. But for customer related server i feel good to use enterprise linux. Gentoo is my personal fav and love ;-) I wanted to give a try on latest vanilla 3.2.1 - it works like charm now , libvirt, virt-manager. Only trick i have to use is, before creating new virtual machine, i have to a new harddisk for the vm. When i do this in the process of creating new virtual machine, i cant select (in step 3?) where to define the disk. the windows just pop up for 1 sec and is gone, i have to kill then the virt-manager and restart all. what i really like is, when use Centos as Guest, u can use virtio from beginning on hard disk and ethernet. E.g. on Centos it is not easy to install just libvirt without qemu. However, it is perfectly simple to do so on Gentoo. Michal

[libvirt-users] libvirt 0.9.0 on gentoo linux, problem network

Hello to the list at first - i am first time here. i setup on my gentoo box libvirt and virt-manager. when i fireup virt-manager all seems okay. when i want to create a new virtual machine it seems all okay, until the step when i want to add an iso image to the cdrom. i notcied that i cant choose to connect cdrom, also the network is not found. i can post error codes from log when needed, just wanted to ask, if someone here had same behaviour and a solution for it. marko
