[libvirt] [PATCH] Remove explicit dependency on ceph RPM

RPM will automatically add a dependency on the library, so there is no need to have an explicit dependency on the ceph RPM itself. Refactored the cross use of netcf and interface for the interface driver into only interface driver references. Made netcf the primary backend provider for the interface driver. Added a udev based read-only interface driver backend to be used when netcf support is not built in. Untested: * udev: Does it display devices that are part of a bond. * netcf: developed all this on distros without netcf support. Unknown: * Should virInterfaceGetXMLDesc() be implemented for the udev backend? It will as a result contain a lot less info than the netcf based backend would for the same device (e.g. does the device start on boot). [libvirt] patch for dnsmasq parameters is not complete

Although the patch with "--domain xxx --local=/xxx/" for dnsmasq command line parameters is good as far as it goes, it is not complete. As it is, dnsmasq will no longer forward names in its name-domain, but it will forward reverse lookup (IP address) queries. I am going to need to look at the code more. Instead of "--domain virt --local=/virt/" or just "--local=//" they need to look something like: "--domain virt --local=/virt/ --local=/122.168.192.in-addr.arpa/" or "--local=// --local=/122.168.192.in-addr.arpa/". I have dome some virtual testing and manually configured dnsmasq in a virtual machine and adding the second "--local" works rather well. Coming up with a new patch that works, that will take a lot more effort. Gene

After discussion with DB we decided to rename the new iolimit element as it creates the impression it would be there to limit (i.e. throttle) I/O instead of specifying immutable characteristics of a block device. This is also backed by the fact that the term I/O Limits has vanished from newer storage admin documentation. Hi, I was discussing with Jiri Denemark about the current behavior of none seclabels with multiple security drivers and I'd like to hear more opinions about how this should work. Currently, a none security label can be defined specifically to each enabled security driver. For example, using a default configuration (in which SELinux is enabled as default driver and DAC is enabled due to privileged mode), a guest definition can contain the following seclabel: <seclabel type='none' model='selinux'/> This will disable SELinux labeling and will keep labeling enabled for any other security drivers (DAC in this case). So, my question is: should none seclabels affect specific drivers (as done now) or just one none seclabel should be accepted affecting all security drivers in use? Regards, Marcelo

In Linux these are called IO limits and can be observed in the guest's sysfs under /sys/block/<dev>/queue. This patch set enables libvirt to override the logical and physical block size for QEMU guests. Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this belongs here, I sent a question to the users list yesterday without getting a response, so I'm trying here. I have storage-pool that for some reason became inactive (possibly due to an error with pool-refresh in an old version of a Java API binding). I want to restart the pool but am unable to, due to the volume being mounted: # virsh pool-start [uuid] error: Failed to start pool [uuid] error: Requested operation is not valid: Target '/mnt/[uuid]' is already mounted We have tested this with versions 0.9.12 and 0.9.13. Hi all, I have create a Thin lvm and installed a guest os on it, Now when i cloned that lvm using virt-clone # virt-clone --prompt --force --original lvm_thin1 --name lvm_thin2 --file /dev/volgrp/lvm_thin2 The cloned Disk lvm_thin2 size is fully expanded , But I want a thin Lvm cloned image Well according to my best of knowledge , It could be because the when lvm is getting cloned, The zero are read from the original image #lvs LV VG Attr LSize Pool Origin Data% lvm_thin1 Volgrp Vwi-aotz 8.00g pool 12.18 lvm_thin2 volgrp Vwi-a-tz 8.00g pool 100.00 pool volgrp twi-a-tz 100.00g 8.97 As you can see above the original LVM utilize only 12.18% disk space from the pool, but the cloned lvm_thin2 is fully expanded. Is there is any way how can I clone a THIN LVM without fully expanding it ? Or Is there any way to shrink the cloned LVM to that size without loss of data. From: Alex Jia <Alex Jia ajia(a)redhat.com> The default flags are inconsistent on both qemuSetSchedulerParameters() and qemuGetSchedulerParameters() in libvirt, the qemuGetSchedulerParameters() always passes 'VIR_DOMAIN_AFFECT_CURRENT' flag to the qemuGetSchedulerParametersFlags(), it should be a expected behavior, but the qemuSetSchedulerParameters() always passes 'VIR_DOMAIN_AFFECT_LIVE' flag to the qemuSetSchedulerParametersFlags(), if users use default flag=0 or explicitly give a 'VIR_DOMAIN_AFFECT_CURRENT' flag to the set_scheduler_parameters() in perl-Sys-Virt, because the flag value is 0, the result is the virDomainSetSchedulerParameters() is called incorrectly. My plan is to add a 'udev' backend that will provide just some basic read-only host interface information. Basically I've been seeing postings to libvirt-users and virt-tools where people are on distros that don't support netcf and are noticing that virt-manager uses HAL or they use libvir APIs and can configure everything for the virtual machine respecting the host except for the network. </not part of the commit> Based exclusively on work by Eric Blake in a patch posted with the same subject. Open vSwitch controllers may store per-port data in the OVS DB on a host. This is an opaque data blob utilized by a controller to store information relevant to the port itself. This patch provides a mechanism for this to migrate with the virtual machine during live migration by adding code to the V3 migration protocol. Tested migration with "virtualport type='openvswitch'", both with and without this per-port data. Also tested migration with non-OVS bridges. Kyle Mestery (1): Add the ability to migrate per-port data on Open vSwitch ports during qemu live migration. After fixing the last review comments on remote port searching (commit a14b4aea512d6c3a42af56207a65ef10ac4a12a1), the commit right after that wasn't modified accordingly, therefore two values weren't changed as they should and the configurable ports don't work as expected.
