qemu returns error but only in the event after the block job actually starts. Reject it upfront for a better error message. Commit id '1feaccf0' attempted to handle an empty secrettype value; however, it made a mistake by processing the secretType as if it was the original secrettype string. The 'secretType' is actually whether 'usage' or 'uuid' was used. Thus adjust part of the change to make the same check for def->src->type != VIR_STORAGE_TYPE_VOLUME before setting auth_secret_usage from the secrettype field. [libvirt] lxc: setsid() usage

Hi! Why is libvirt-lxc issuing a setsid() in lxcContainerSetupFDs()? To me it seems like a hack to have a controlling TTY if PID 1 is /bin/bash. If one runs a sysv init style distro (like Debian) in libvirt-lxc the setsid() has a major downside, when getty spawns a login shell on /dev/tty1 it cannot become the controlling tty. Hence, if one presses ctrl-c in such a session, the container will reboot. Interestingly it does not happen when a systemd distro is used. Maybe because systemd completely closes and reopens the TTY? By trying to lead the way of clean includes, I sorted the lines alphabetically and that is a problem for mingw builds with gnulib. As 'configmake.h' defines DATADIR and 'datatypes.h' transitively includes 'winsock.h' that uses 'DATADIR' as a name for a struct, it's enough to reorder those. Even though this might be worked around in gnulib later on, this fixes the build for now. Patch comment: In this patch we add VIR_DOMAIN_DEVICE_NET handlers implementation for domainAttachDevice and domainDetachDevice callbacks. As soon as we don't support this operation for hypervisor type domains, we implement this functionality for containers only. In detach procedure we find network device by MAC address. Because PrlVmDevNet_GetMacAddress() returns MAC as a UTF-8 encoded null-terminated string, we use memcmp() to compare it. "virsh net-update" starts iptables rules reload for NAT network system. This event doesn't start network hooks, so all previous custom iptables rules become unavailable. If vm->def->cputune.nvcpupin is 0 in libxlDomainSetVcpuAffinities (as seems to be the case on arm) then the VIR_FREE after cleanup: would be operating on an uninitialised pointer in map.map. Fix this by using libxl_bitmap_init and libxl_bitmap_dispose in the appropriate places (like VIR_FREE libxl_bitmap_dispose is also idempotent, so there is no double free on exit from the loop). libxl_bitmap_dispose is slightly preferable since it also sets map.size back to 0, avoiding a potential source of confusion. This fixes the crashes we've been seeing in the Xen automated tests on ARM. I had a glance at the handful of other users of libxl_bitmap and none of them looked to have a similar issue. Yeah, this is a big change. However, it's needed. Indenting by TABs leads to more headache and the sooner we do this the better. I've pushed the patches to my github too: https://github.com/zippy2/libvirt-php/commits/fixes Maybe we should introduce a syntax-check rule too. BUT - there's no gnulib submodule (which introduction would be another headache, so I'm okay with leaving that as an exercise for somebody else). Now, I realize there's not much reviewer's bandwidth, so what if I just give you guys some time, and if there's no review in say a week or two, I'll go ahead and push this? Oh, and for better viewing of the patches use --ignore-space-change. That cuts off any space change and leave you with just interesting changes. Hi All, I would like to know if there is a way to fetch the "CPU Usage and Memory Usage for VM " and CPU Usage and Memory Usage for a Host in the KVM environment using libvirt java sdk . I am using libvirt-0.5.1.jar. In the commit 68406aff new feature was introduced - users are allowed to select the format of mounted host images. However, this uses some libvirt-glib features that were introduced in the 0.2.1 release, e.g. the symbol GVIR_CONFIG_DOMAIN_FILESYS_DRIVER_LOOP was introduced in dbd063fe. So we must update the minimal required version of libvirt-glib. At the same time, update it in the spec file too. Hello. I need libvirt proxy, but not simple proxy connection, but something like dedicated libvirt server, that can modify requests or doing something based on incoming request. I'm use go for this, i'm already parse xdr data, but i'm stuck at payload. Where i can find payloads examples or how can i determine needed payload for specific procedure ? (now i'm use wireshark with libvirt dissector). Hi. I have issue with incorrect memory side inside vm. I'm try utilize memory balloon (not memory hotplug, because i have guest without memory hotplug (may be)). When domain started with static memory all works fine, but then i'm specify in libvirt memory = 16384 , maxMemory = 16384 and currentMemory = 1024, guest in f/rpoc/meminfo says that have only 603608 Kb memory. Hi, if that has been discussed before, please point me to it. I have not been able to find anything about it. It would be great to easily generate and cd-attach cloud-init isos when starting a vm. The config files could be taken from the file system (e.g. %sysconfdir/cloud-init/host-name) and put into an iso. when the host stops the generated iso should be removed. What do you think? One thing that I still haven't figured out is, when the daemon is waiting in the even loop, in poll() and SIGINT comes, it jumps out and cleanup phase begins. However, the event loop may still be the one and only holding a reference to some objects, so we kind of want it to at least remove stale handlers. Well, they will be deleted after the cleanup work in the daemon is done. Yeah, messy and probably not worth breaking up the code into smaller pieces just to cleanup deleted handles. [libvirt] Overhead for a default cpu cg placement scheme

Hi Daniel, would it possible to adopt an optional tunable for a virCgroup mechanism which targets to a disablement of a nested (per-thread) cgroup creation? Those are bringing visible overhead for many-threaded guest workloads, almost 5% in non-congested host CPU state, primarily because the host scheduler should make a much more decisions with those cgroups than without them. We also experienced a lot of host lockups with currently exploited cgroup placement and disabled nested behavior a couple of years ago. Though the current patch is simply carves out the mentioned behavior, leaving only top-level per-machine cgroups, it can serve for an upstream after some adaptation, that`s why I`m asking about a chance of its acceptance. This message is a kind of 'request of a feature', it either can be accepted/dropped from our side or someone may give a hand and redo it from scratch. The detailed benchmarks are related to a host 3.10.y, if anyone is interested in the numbers for latest stable, I can update those. Thanks!
