After the net model enum patches, the test driver started rejecting non-enum model strings. It should continue to accept unknown models and generally act closer to the qemu driver. [libvirt] [PATCH] spec: fix f28 rpm without firewalld zone

Commit 3b71f2e42d added spec handling for with_firewalld_zone. We now call %firewalld_reload if with_firewalld is set. But the matching 'BuildRequires: firewalld-filesystem' is only applied if with_firewalld_zone is set. [libvirt] [PATCH] lib: Preserve error around virDomainNetReleaseActualDevice()

This function is calling public API virNetworkLookupByName() which resets the error. Therefore, if virDomainNetReleaseActualDevice() is used in cleanup path it actually resets the original error that got us jump into 'cleanup' label. Signed-off-by: Michal Privoznik <mprivozn(a)redhat.com> --- I've found this issue when trying to change QoS on an domain's <interface/> and I've intentionally entered @floor bigger than corresponding network's average. Orders bigger. I mean, with this change the QoS is still kind of broken [1] but at least I'm getting some sensible error instead of "An error occurred, but the cause is unknown". 1: Thing is, when an <interface type='network'/> is being updated (virsh update-device) then a new interface is actually created (virDomainNetAllocateActualDevice() is called), which is then set up and the old interface is then released. This works in theory, but for a fraction of a second we have two interfaces. Therefore the sum of their @floor-s might exceed the limit (which is MAX(network average, network peak)) and thus allocating new device will fail. Unfortunately, I don't have any bright idea around this. Maybe temporary setting newdev->bandwidth = NULL; then allocating new device and trying to set new bandwidth ourselves? That is still going to fail until the old interface is not released. Right now the test driver implementation of virNodeGetCPUMap uses hardcoded data. Instead use cpu data from our nodeInfo, which can be overridden with input test XML. This helps to emulate some virsh commands (vcpupin, hostcpumap) with a large number of host cpus. [1] The content reported for test:///default is now slightly different: previously it would report 8 total cpus with 0,2,4 online. Now it reports 16 cpus with all online, which is the pre-existing nodeInfo default. When cloning an RBD volume we try to find a snapshot which is not different to the image we're trying to clone. This boils down to calling rbd_diff_iterate() or rbd_diff_iterate2() on systems with newer ceph. These two are passed a callback - virStorageBackendRBDIterateCb() which mistakenly states that if a negative value is returned from the callback, the iteration is stopped but no error is reported. Well, that is not the case. I've looked into librbd sources and found that a negative value does mean stop of iteration but it also means an error. Hosts for rbd are ceph monitor daemons. These have fixed IP addresses, so they are often referenced by IP rather than hostname for convenience, or to avoid relying on DNS. Using IPv4 addresses as the host name works already, but IPv6 addresses require rbd-specific escaping because the colon is used as an option separator in the string passed to librados. Escape these colons, and enclose the IPv6 address in square brackets so it is distinguished from the port, which is currently mandatory. virCgroup struct is always defined and the free function is not calling anything that would require OS supporting cgroups. This fixes an issue if we try to start a VM with QEMU binary that doesn't support QXL. The start operation will fail in qemuProcessStartValidateVideo() which will set correct error message, but later in one of the cleanup paths we will call qemuDomainObjPrivateDataClear() which always calls virCgroupFree() and that will fail on OS that doesn't support cgroups and it will set a new error which will be eventually reported to user. Hosts for rbd are ceph monitor daemons. These have fixed IP addresses, so they are often referenced by IP rather than hostname for convenience, or to avoid relying on DNS. Using IPv4 addresses as the host name works already, but IPv6 addresses require rbd-specific escaping because the colon is used as an option separator in the string passed to librados. Escape these colons, and enclose the IPv6 address in square brackets so it is distinguished from the port, which is currently mandatory. If there's an error when setting up QoS on a bridge the control jumps over to 'err5' label. Here, the virNetDevBandwidthClear() is called to clear out any partially set QoS. [libvirt] [PATCH v1 0/4] RFC CPU Model Comparison via QMP

This is a preview of the CPU comparison (and soon baseline) patches. Comments are welcome on all aspects, as they will help guide the development of the baseline implementation. The first couple of patches simply refactor code. The first introduces an XML -> CPU def helper to be used to extract the CPU definition prior to sending it to the comparison functions. The second patch refactors some of the code from CPU model expansion to be later used by comparison and baseline. Currently, only one of the functions from the refactoring is reused for comparison. The other two will come into play when baseline is implemented. The third is the typical "new capability" patch to introduce query-cpu-model-comparison and test data for s390x. The last patch implements the qemuMonitorJSON function for query-cpu-model-comparison and hooks it up to virsh hypervisor-cpu-compare. This is posted as an RFC to make sure these patches are set in the correct direction before tackling the baseline patches. Thanks! This function creates a list of paths to the latest capabilities and returns them in a hash table where key is an arch string and value is the path. Well, we know how many arches there are so might as well use that as initial hash size. Now that libvirt has firmware auto selection feature the nvram config knob is more or less obsolete. It still makes sense in cases where distro users are using does not provide FW descriptor files, therefore I'm not removing it. We wrap the existing ->model string in accessor functions, rename it to ->modelstr, add a ->model enum, and convert internal driver usage bit by bit. At the end, all driver code that is acting on specific network model values is comparing against an enum, not a string. This is only partial because of xen/libxl/xm and qemu drivers, which if they don't know anything particular about the model string will just place it on the qemu command line/xen config and see what happens. So basically if I were to pass in <model type='idontexist'/> qemu would turn that into -device idontexist,... That behavior is untouched by this series, as fully unwinding that will take some more work: * Figuring out all reasonable qemu + xen values that could actually result in a working VM config, and adding them to the enum * Figuring out a long term plan for disabling passthrough entirely. There's some discussion in the v1 thread about this. Some caveats: * vz driver is not compile tested. What's the sdk magic to actually get this building? * net model enum lookup is done case insensitive. this is to maintain the behavior of the vmx and virtualbox drivers, but it's different than all our other enum usage. I learnt from Dan Berrangé that the 'nvram' section in `/etc/libvirt/qemu.conf` will now go away in light of all the work done in QEMU ('firmware.json', et al) and libvirt (the firmware auto-selection). But for my own education, can anyone confirm that the current content of 'nvram' is out of date in terms of mapping of OVMF binaries to their corresponding variable store ("VARS") files? Let's see what I mean.
