Commit 7282f455a got rid of the VIR_WARNINGS_NO_CAST_ALIGN macro when refactoring the code and broke the build with clang. Turns out, that there are few bugs that are not that trivial to fix (e.g. around block jobs). Instead of rushing in not thoroughly tested fixes disable the feature temporarily for the release. From: Thomas Huth <thuth(a)redhat.com> It's been marked as deprecated in QEMU v2.6.0 already, so really nobody should use the legacy "ivshmem" device anymore (but use ivshmem-plain or ivshmem-doorbell instead). Time to remove the deprecated device now. Belatedly also update a mention of the deprecated "ivshmem" in the file docs/specs/ivshmem-spec.txt to "ivshmem-doorbell". Missed in commit 5400c02b90b ("ivshmem: Split ivshmem-plain, ivshmem-doorbell off ivshmem"). As planned I tagged the RC1 in git and pushed signed tarball and rpms to the usual place: ftp://libvirt.org/libvirt/ I didn't see the 5 patches from Laine in git at that point but those seems to be bug + portability fixes anyway so it should still be possible to have them in say before rc2. Seems to be working fine in my limited testing, and CI seems to be mostly green excepot a few edge cases https://ci.centos.org/view/libvirt/ so that's looking good to me, but as usual it's good to exercice the RCs in various condition to make sure we didn't introdue regressions on some platforms. I plan on RC2 release during the week-end and then if everything goes well push 5.0.0 out on Tuesday for Jan 15 deadline, thanks in advance for giving it some testing ! Since its introduction in commit 0977b8aa071 (released in v1.2.14) qemuAgentGetInterfaces calls qemuAgentCommand with needReply=false, which allows qemuAgentCommand to return 0 even when it did not get any reply from the agent. Set needReply to true, since we dereference it right after. The feature was added to QEMU in 3.1.0 and it is currently blocking migration, which is expected to change in the future. Luckily 3.1.0 is new enough to give us migratability hints on each feature via query-cpu-model-expension, which means we don't need to use the "migratable" attribute on the CPU map XML. The kernel calls this feature arch_capabilities and RHEL/CentOS 7.* use arch-facilities. Apparently some CPU test files were gathered with the RHEL version of QEMU. Let's update the test files to avoid possible confusion about the correct naming. Hi, all. There is old patch series [1] to add file format to UEFI and NVRAM. It is not merged because I guess it is intended to be used with online internal snapshot and such snapshot have issues with nvram. First it can save VM state in nvram image. Second nvram is saved as part of VM state so one doesn't need to make nvram image snapshot as QEMU does. This is explained in greater details in [2]. But offline internal snapshots and disk only snapshots makes sense. So what about finally take the patch series. networkMigrateStateFiles was added nearly 5 years ago when the network state directory was moved from /var/lib/libvirt to /var/run/libvirt just prior to libvirt-1.2.4). It was only required to maintain proper state information for networks that were active during an upgrade that didn't involve rebooting the host. At this point the likelyhood of anyone upgrading their libvirt from pre-1.2.4 directly to 5.0.0 or later *without rebooting the host* is probably so close to 0 that no properly informed bookie would take *any* odds on it happening, so it seems appropriate to remove this pointless code. ThunderX is Cavium SoC. This platform contain SRIOV NIC. Unlike other commonly known network devices it does not have VF functionality duplicated in its PF. PF is purely management device (on HW level). This creates several problems with existing libvirt code as in many places libvirt assumes that each VF netdev has PF netdev assigned. This patch series trying to address issues which can be easily fixed. (mostly bug fixes found while working on full featured solution) First patch in series is most important as it allows to unblock the netdev detection and use <hostdev> on this platform.
