[libvirt] API break from the VMware player driver

All, I'll preface this by saying that I'm not 100% sure I'm correct. But I still think there may be an API break that was introduced with the VMware player driver. In include/libvirt/virterror.h, VIR_FROM_VMWARE was added to the *middle* of the enum for virErrorDomain. If any clients of libvirt happen to be using hardcoded numbers, then they will now have the wrong number for everything after VIR_FROM_VMWARE. Looking back through the history of virErrorDomain, it doesn't seem like this is the first time this has happened. What's the thinking with virErrorDomain? Part of the API, or up to the clients to properly use the named enums? -- Chris Lalancette

All other drivers are explicitly linked to gnulib. The VMware driver lacked this, resulting in mdir_name being an undefine symbol. Now the VMware driver doesn't depend on the ESX driver anymore. Add a WITH_VMX option that depends on WITH_ESX and WITH_VMWARE. Also add a libvirt_vmx.syms file. Move some escaping functions from esx_util.c to vmx.c. Hi all, Has anyone looked at adding support for Parallels virtualisation products, or have any idea if it's even possible? Google isn't showing much in the way of search results, so not sure it's been looked at before. These are the server oriented products: http://www.parallels.com/au/products/server/ They have a hosted hypervisor (like VMware GSX/Server), and a bare metal hypervisor. The vcenter has been added the esx and manages it. The DRS is activated on that vcenter. The esx is running one VM, created from the vcenter. This series makes the VirtualBox driver work on Windows. On non-Windows systems VirtualBox uses XPCOM, on Windows it uses MSCOM (Microsoft COM). XPCOM and MSCOM are slightly different. This series adds a new glue layer for MSCOM. The main difference is the representation of arrays. A new vboxArray type hides the differences from the general driver code. I've tested this with the 3.x series of VirtualBox. Testing with 2.x revealed that 2.x and 3.x represent IIDs differently. This problem is not fixed by this series and will need some additional work. Therefore, the VirtualBox driver only works with the 3.x series on Windows for now. VirtualBox 4.x seems to stay in line with the 3.x COM API. I expect it to work properly on Windows once we've added general support for it. Matthias

Hi Matthias (and anyone else interested), Just added a win32 installation package to the website, for libvirt 0.8.6. http://libvirt.org/sources/win32_experimental/Libvirt-0.8.6-0.exe This has the libcurl stuff in it you put together, so (in theory) it should connect to remote vSphere/ESX servers. Do you (or anyone) have time to try it out against vSphere/ESX/similar?
