[libvirt] [PATCHv4 0/7] interface: new public API for network config change transactions

(This is v3 of some of the patches and v4 of some others. Changes from previous versions are noted in the individual patches.) This patch series implements three new APIs for the interface driver which support transactional changes to the host's network config - at any point you can begin a transaction (which saves a snapshot of the current config), then make any changes you like to the config, and later either commit those changes (the current implementation just removes the snapshotted files) or rollback to the original config. The actual implementation of this functionality lives in the netcf library; these patches create pass-through functions that call out to netcf on the machine that's running libvirtd. Most importantly, note that uses of "start" in the API names have been changed to "begin", and rather than a single virsh command with multiple subcommands, there are now three separate commands: iface-begin, iface-commit, and iface-rollback. Thanks to using AC_CHECK_LIB in configure.ac, this code can safely be pushed and built on systems that don't yet have a new enough netcf to contain the API extensions - those functions are simply not implemented in that case (and return the appropriate error).

In v3 migration, once migration is completed, the VM needs to be left in a paused state until after Finish3 has been executed on the target. Only then will the VM be killed off. When using non-JSON QEMU monitor though, we don't receive any 'STOP' event from QEMU, so we need to manually set our state offline & thus release lock manager leases. I noticed this while building from libvirt.git on RHEL 5.6: Generating internals/command.html.tmp mkdir: cannot create directory `/internals': Permission denied If I had been building as root instead, this pollutes /. Older autoconf lacks $(builddir), but it is rigorously equal to '.' in newer autoconf, so we could use '$(MKDIR_P) internals' instead. In between fork and exec, a connection to sanlock is acquired and the socket file descriptor is intionally leaked to the child process. sanlock watches this FD for POLL_HANGUP to detect when QEMU has exited. We don't want a rogus/compromised QEMU from issuing sanlock RPC calls on the leaked FD though, since that could be used to DOS other guests. Commit 4454a9efc728b91e791b1f14c26ea23a19d57f48 introduced bad behaviour on the VIR_EVENT_HANDLE_ERROR condition. This condition is only hit when an invalid FD is used in poll() (typically due to a double-close bug). The QEMU monitor code was treating this condition as non-fatal, and thus libvirt would poll() in a fast loop forever burning 100% CPU. [libvirt] RFC: Add virDomainBlockPull API family to libvirt

To help speed the provisioning process for large domains, new QED disks are created with backing to a template image. These disks are configured with copy on read such that blocks that are read from the backing file are copied to the new disk. This reduces I/O over a potentially costly path to the backing image. In such a configuration, there is a desire to remove the dependency on the backing image as the domain runs. To accomplish this, qemu will provide an interface to perform sequential copy on read operations during normal VM operation. Once all data has been copied, the disk image's link to the backing file is removed. The virDomainBlockPull API family brings this functionality to libvirt. virDomainBlockPullAll() instructs the hypervisor to stream the entire device in the background. Progress of this operation can be checked with the function virDomainBlockPullInfo(). An ongoing stream can be cancelled with virDomainBlockPullAbort(). If a more controlled IO rate is desired, virDomainBlockPull() can be used to perform a single increment of IO. Subsequent calls to this function will automatically stream the appropriate next increment until the disk has been fully populated. An event (VIR_DOMAIN_EVENT_ID_BLOCK_PULL) will be emitted when a disk has been fully populated or if a BlockPullAll() operation was terminated due to an error. This event is useful to avoid polling on virDomainBlockPullInfo() for completion and could also be used by the security driver to revoke access to the backing file when it is no longer needed. Note: I am sending this series out now (even though image streaming is not quite committed to qemu upstream) because I want to start the review process. [libvirt] remote generator: Legacy support for hyper to long mappings

This can be considered as a v2 for hyper annotation patch [1]. Dan argued that hyper-to-long mapping is considered as legacy and hyper should be mapped to long long for all new APIs. Therefore, he voted against the longlong annotation, because this should be the default anyway. I removed the longlong annotations from the original patch. This results in version-A of the attached patch 0001. But this optional annotation makes the parser more complex. One of the reasons for annotating things in the .x is to have single place to define a new procedure. But as the long/longlong annotation only affect exiting procedures and will not be added to new ones it's much simpler to store this information in the generator itself. This information it is fixed and will not change anymore. This is implemented in version-B of the attached patch 0001. I favor version-B, what's your opinion on this? Attached patch 0002 extends the apibuild script to allow the usage of long for the same fixed set as in the remote generator only.
