[libvirt] [PATCH] daemon: Always advertise libvirtd service

This is a regression introduced by new RPC codes, previously we advertise the service via ssh even if the daemon doesn't listen on TLS port (TCP is not choosed). Now the service is only advertised when it listens on TLS or TCP port. tested-by: Royce Lv <lvroyce(a)linux.vnet.ibm.com> Patch works as expected.Use setmaxmem cmd,tested cases of set mem success ,writing tmp config file failure and rename failure.old xml file reserves in case of failure so still can be used,and tmp config file cleared leaving no trash to xml folder.

Today libvirt supports the cgroups blkio-controller, which handles proportional shares and throughput/iops limits on host block devices. blkio-controller does not support network file systems (NFS) or other QEMU remote block drivers (curl, Ceph/rbd, sheepdog) since they are not host block devices. QEMU I/O throttling works with all types of drive and can be applied independently to each drive attached to a guest and supports throughput/iops limits. To help add QEMU I/O throttling support to libvirt, we plan to complete it with add new API virDomainBlockIoThrottle(), new command 'blkiothrottle' and Python bindings. Notes: we are sending this series out now(even though they are not completed yet.)because we want to start the review process. These patches implemented the below features by Zhi Yong Wu: 1) Enable the blkio throttling in xml when guest is starting up. After working with ESX and VBox, I realized that a tweak to how snapshot relationships are stored would speed things up from O(n^2) to O(n). The hash table must be kept for name lookup, but the speedup comes by tracking relationships with each snapshot rather than crawling the entire hash table rebuilding those relations for every operation that needs particular relations. To date, disk snapshots worked by accident, as they were always using hmp fallback due to a typo in commit e702b5b not picking up on the (intentional) difference in command names between the two monitor protocols. * src/qemu/qemu_monitor_json.c (qemuMonitorJSONDiskSnapshot): Spell QMP command correctly. Hi, when building libvirt in Fedora/s390x I've found that xenlight needs to be explicitly disabled in the spec file. Configure properly sets the library as non-existent, but the %files section still wants to package the 3 /var/*/libvirt/libxl directories. This patch creates basic dissector for Libvirt RPC. The protocol description can be found here: http://libvirt.org/internals/rpc.html Currently, only packet head dissecting is written. To fully dissect packet payloads a more effort is needed, as each function has different arguments (in general). However, this can be good stepping stone for later expansion. Ideally, a script that will generate this dissector from libvirt RPC file would be written. --- Okay, this patch obviously belongs to wireshark mailing list, but before I'll send it there, I guess we should decide if we want it there. I mean there are 2 modes/ways for wireshark dissectors: 1) Place it into wireshark repo as many others. Advantage: wireshark will be shipped with support for libvirt RPC Disadvantage: wireshark will be shipped with support for libvirt RPC In other words, if you look at wireshark releases, they are not as often as ours, so in the end, this dissector will be always one or more step behind current libvirt. But many users will be able to use it right after box open. 2) Dissector as plugin Advantage: we can update it as often as we want Disadvantage: users needs to install a plugin Personally, I prefer 2) as libvirt RPC is expanded pretty often, and I expect this dissector to be used by libvirt developer mainly, for who installing a plugin into wireshark can't be a real problem :) The table of string for labeling procedures, has been generated by hand, but I intend to write script for that. VirtFS allows the user to choose between local/handle for fs driver. As of now, libvirt hardcode to use local driver only. This patch provides a solution to allow user to choose between local/handle as fs driver. Hi I am new to open source development and had a question about libvirt/KVM support in the linux kernel. In general since many people are contributing to the library, are there any 'standardized regressions or certification tests' available that make sure that that the existing libvirt infrastructure does not break with new changes? More particular, how does one make sure that given kernel version is compatible with a given library drop? Thank you -- Udayan

Hello List, I was wondering if there are any targets that are just for the documentation to build and install. I am curious about separating the documentation from the software from a building and installation point-of-view, and offering this in the port for FreeBSD. So a user that gives a certain flag will get everything but the documentation.
