[libvirt] [PATCH-RFC] Change libxl to use Xen 4.2 interface

This patch changes libxl to use the interface in Xen 4.2. It is provided as an example, not intended to go in to libvirt as-is since it removes all support for libxl from Xen 4.1. It also still has some cruft (extra void casts on parameters) and the device model info population is not written. A bit late compared to my estimate from last week, I have just tagged the git tree and made an rc1 snapshot for testing: ftp://libvirt.org/libvirt/libvirt-0.9.12-rc1.tar.gz and currently pushing along the large set of rpms. We still have a number of pending patches as pointed out by http://libvirt.org/pending.html I think the patches from Wen for "cpu bandwidth for hypervisor threads" are a new feature which should wait for after 0.9.12, maybe we should do the same with the remaining patches from Stephan for multiple IP learning the dhcpsnooping code, but there are others pending. The rc1 seems to compile and work okay for me using the set of rpms (notice the change in the set !), please raise potential portability and stability issues, thanks ! Hi~ Users can use vcpupin command to bind a vcpu thread to a specific physical cpu. But besides vcpu threads, there are alse some other threads created by qemu (known as hypervisor threads) that could not be explicitly bound to physical cpus. This 10 patches implemented hypervisor threads binding, in two ways: 1) Use sched_setaffinity() function; 2) In cpuset cgroup. It turns out that when cgroups are enabled, the use of a block device for a snapshot target was failing with EPERM due to libvirt failing to add the block device to the cgroup whitelist. Hi, I'm currently working on getting sanlock into Debian/Ubuntu. While testing, I noticed that I wasn't able to add a readonly or shared device: "internal error unsupported configuration: Readonly leases are not supported". After looking into the source, it seems to be the following situation: - Libvirt passes every device to the sanlock plugin, even if it is readonly - The sanlock plugin rejects to add a lease for the readonly device, returning an error so the machine starts to fail The attached patch rejects passing readonly and shared devices to the lock-plugin so they shouldn't be a problem anymore. Would this be an appropriated way to fix this problem? (I'm neither experienced in libvirt nor C) What seems odd to me is that Fedora either doesn't hit this or nobody has ever reported it. Though numad will manage the memory allocation of task dynamically, but it wants management application (libvirt) to pre-set the memory policy according to the advisory nodeset returned from querying numad, (just like pre-bind CPU nodeset for domain process), and thus the performance could benifit much more from it. This patch introduces new XML tag 'placement', value 'auto' indicates whether to set the memory policy with the advisory nodeset from numad, and its value defaults to 'static'. e.g. <numatune> <memory placement='auto' mode='interleave'/> </numatune> Just like what current "numatune" does, the 'auto' numa memory policy setting uses libnuma's API too. So, to full drive numad, one needs to specify placement='auto' for both "<vcpu>" and "<numatune><memory .../></numatune>".
