A quick question -
What is the correct root for dynamically generated KVM mac addresses? The
docs (man virt-install) say 54:52:00 and I've seen Ubuntu docs on-line that
say 52:54:00.
Has someone got these mixed up?

Yes it is.
Try www.linux-kvm.org and search for a list there.
This list here is for libvirt.

THe source code always wins
macaddr[0] = 0x52;
macaddr[1] = 0x54;
macaddr[2] = 0x00;
macaddr[3] = 0x12;
macaddr[4] = 0x34;
macaddr[5] = 0x56 + idx;
So 52:54:00 is the correct prefix

macaddr[1] = 0x54;
macaddr[2] = 0x00;
macaddr[3] = 0x12;
macaddr[4] = 0x34;
macaddr[5] = 0x56 + idx;
So 52:54:00 is the correct prefix
