I don't understand how that could happen, the spec file states
BuildRequires: python python-devel
I still don't understand. what version did you tried to build, and how ?
That log shows it is failing in the 'make dist' part - it hasn't got to the
rpmbuild bit yet so BuildRequires aren't used.
