[libvirt] libvirt-snmp development

Hi all, There were no active develoment in libvirt-snmp subproject for a while. Taking this into account I want to ask the following. If we are, here in Virtuozzo, interested in extending this subproject, will there be support from project maintainers in doing this or not? Maxim Nestratov

Yep, we'd be happy to see further contributions to this project, as I'm sure there's more useful features it could use. Just to add some info, Michal submitted a proposal for GSoC and Outreachy multiple times for the rewrite of libvirt-snmp as it's not maintainable in its current state. Since nobody selected that, or at least from what I know, it shouldn't stop you from working on that project. I just feel that it might be a good heads-up that rewrite might be the best option if you want to add features. Have a nice day, Martin

Meanwhile, what else can be used to get extensive performance-related statistic about domains? Are there some other sub-projects/tools? Thank you, Dmitry.
Best, Maxim

I'm not sure what are all the things we are able to report in our bulk stats API, but try 'virsh domstats'.
Thank you, Dmitry.

Depends on the context you're trying to get data from. There's various monitoring tools that have libvirt plugins for example: http://libvirt.org/apps.html#monitoring Regards, Daniel -- |: http://berrange.com -o- http://www.flickr.com/photos/dberrange/ :| |: http://libvirt.org -o- http://virt-manager.org :| |: http://autobuild.org -o- http://search.cpan.org/~danberr/ :| |: http://entangle-photo.org -o- http://live.gnome.org/gtk-vnc :|

To be honest, there aren't *many* but they are there. Notable examples include the collectd plugin that Richard Jones created in C and hostflow. There's also virt-top, but I don't think it'll provide you with all the information that you'd need. Personally, I ended up creating a crude script in python to collect information from KVM pids and network interfaces in /proc/net/dev -------------------------------------------- Charlie Drage 4096R / 0x9B3B446C http://pgp.mit.edu/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x622CDF119B3B446C -------------------------------------------- On Tue, Nov 10, 2015 at 4:29 PM, Dmitry Mishin <dim@odin.com> wrote:
