Yes, the "micro" is there for any intermediate releases, whether they be classed as "stable" branch releases, or "brown paper bag" emergency releases. I tend to view it as a "get out of jail free" card, something that you may never use, but is a good idea to have as a backup plan for the future. It doesn't cost us anything to have the micro version, and it has a potential upside should the unexpected occur, I'm not really in favour of removing it.
