This is exactly how we do it in ovirt.. I posted a patch to use DNS SRV entries and it just sets up the libvirt-qpid sysconfig file on each boot.
Trying to make sure I understand, there is no such support in the upstream qpid but that's a patch carried just on Ovirt ?
