It seems we're mostly biased towards <model> so I think we should aim for <model type='mtp|9p'/>

For the name of the guest share we'll use the existing <target path='....'> element. Yes 'path' is a misleading name - it doesn't have to be a path it can be any string - this is what we do for 9p already.
