If you do 'git grep detect-zeroes' in libvirt git, you will find we only have that string in the tests, particularly in files with replies from various qemu versions. That way you can say that libvirt does not provide the possibility to do so. However, the patches for adding that support are very trivial, so I took the liberty of adding it, see here:
