Thanks for reporting this issue btw :) I think we should raise the glib
requirement a bit (maybe 2.18) and then add fallbacks for the functions you
mentioned
My only desire is to retain build compat with RHEL-6 at this point,
which has glib 2.22. So increasing the dep to 2.18 is fine with me
