Actually there is another way to access the info - pass the flag VIR_DOMAIN_XML_INACTIVE to the DumpXML method to explicitly request the inactive XML.

Not yet - it also doesn't actually work fully with current libvirt - this is something I'm fixed with the re-factoring of the XML parsing patches so that all drivers honour this flag fully.
