Makefile.maint's sync-vcs-ignore-files already automatically derives all .gitignore files from corresponding .cvsignore files, so please do something similar for .hgignore, so that we end up maintaining only one set of .*ignore files.
Sorry, I accidentally resent the old version. Forthcoming is a patch to add a rule. If it's OK, I'll apply this as well as generate a current .hgignore thanks john
