Depends on the host OS. For Fedora 12 and RHEL-6 , then libvirt
if 0.7.4 or later will be compiled with udev. If not it will fallback
to hal
It's more a question of what method s supported on the host OS rather
than picking one or the other, libvirt will just use the preferred
method.
The reason for the switch is that HAL has been deprecated as of Fedora 12,
with udev being the recommended replacement. Hence libvirt has been updted
to follow recommended practice in new enough distros.
