I'm a nack on this change as it is significantly worse than
what we have today.
Is there any way you could be convinced otherwise, eg. with better
copy or some changes in design?
I don't consider this version to be significantly worse than the
existing one, and I'll gladly accept the slight downgrade in
functionality if it means we can drop ~130 KiB of minified JavaScript
from our repository, especially when doing so means we no longer have
to worry or care about keeping it updated going forward.
