Thanks Sharad... I was doing it on a fresh system itself :)
I think the make install does not install the libVirt_VirtualSystemSnapshotService library, which is needed before the rest of the install works. Assumign make install is same on all platforms.. i wonder how it wud fail only for Ubuntu.

       I recommend, on a fresh system installing libcmpiutil and then get
libvirt-cim and  run -
1. autoconfiscate.sh
2. configure
3. make
